Our football pre-game reception inside Gate 4 of the O'Connell Center has always been one of our favorite events to host because so many of you have enjoyed it for a very long time.
Over the past two years, we've explored multiple options on how we could continue this event during the current O'Connell Center renovation. If you recall, last year we selected two games in which we set up a large hospitality tent on the north lawn of the Reitz Union as part of a trial run. Admittedly, this was a bare bones approach so we could evaluate the area, observe production logistics, allow our caterers to assess the impact on them, and gather your feedback. When considering these standards set by such a successful event over a long period of time, unfortunately we've been unable to find a suitable venue for the upcoming season. Therefore, we will not be hosting any pre-game receptions during the 2016 Football season.
Once the new Exactech Arena at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center is completely operational in late December, we will sit down with O'Dome & UAA personnel, begin evaluating the building's new design, and discuss the potential for using this facility in the future to enhance the game day experience.
